Well, I have finally done it. I have no kittens or retired adults available right now. I have been busy downsizing my cattery some and have finally got it to the right size again. All went to wonderful homes and now will be spoiled and pampered! Check back soon, though, because there will be more to come. ;-)
Yesterday (Saturday 9-5-09) was a VERY interesting today. All the plans were made for me to pick up my new kitten from the airport in Shreveport. As I was heading down the road (about 2 hours away), I get a call from the person sending the kitten from Florida. She stated that there was a problem due to Shreveport not having a climate controlled cargo building. So, she figured it out and was sending the kitten to DFW in Dallas (about 3 hours away). So, I made the U Turn and headed to Dallas. Then, it struck me that I could pick up another kitten that was owed to me that was north of Dallas. So, I make some calls and get them to meet me in Denton (hour north of Dallas). Now, it was a rush to the airport. We get there and drive around looking for the Delta Cargo pick up area. When I say we drove, we DROVE. We must have circled it 5 times, but due to faulty signs didn't know it.
Well, finally, I had both kittens in the car and heading home. After arriving home, I arrive at the thought that it would be best to put both kittens in the bathroom for the night with litter box, bed, food, and water. Everything seemed good with this. They were getting along and both had great health checks. I spent a lot of time on the floor of the bathroom and going back and forth between my Louisiana Tech football game on ESPN. Well, toward the end of the 4th quarter, I went back in the bathroom and the 12 week old kitten that I picked up from the airport was GONE. I searched frantically, while the 8 week old kitten cried. My bathroom is NOT that large. There was no physical way she could have got out, but I was freaked out! I even looked in the comode. There was nothing anywhere. So, after second guessing myself and looking all over the house, I took the young kitten out and just listened. THERE IT WAS! A soft meow coming from somewhere in the bathroom. It was like it was in the wall or something - but that would be impossible. After about 20 minutes of trying to figure this out (literally), I looked at my Pedestal Sink. On the Pedestal and in the back there was a small hole that the pipes enter into. Hard to even get my hand down it. Sure enough! I got a lick on my hand (of course, I was HOPING that it was the kitten LOL). It was and she wanted out. I layed on the floor and tried my best. There was not enough room to maneuver to pull the kitten out. Luckily, she WANTED out! I finally was able to squeeze my hand into the small opening and she stood on my and and was able to crawl up the pipe and poke her head out. I then grabbed her and pulled her to safety. Since that time, she has not moved an inch from my side. She is very loving and wants to be with me all the time. Needless to say, though, she slept in the bedroom last night - not in the bathroom. Her and the other kitten are getting along fine and everything is well now.
It was a long day, though........... However, I couldn't ask for 2 more beautiful kittens. ;-)
I will put up pictures soon of the three I have left available from my cattery reduction (edit - just put up new pictures). Rodney is an all white Straight Coat Peterbald/Oriental Shorthair that is stunningly beautiful! He is the only adult and, at only 2 years old, is a great find for a good compainion. He is free, if you neuter him, and can pick him up - only to a great home, though.
The second one is what I thought was going to be a straight coat Bramble kitten - 12 weeks old. He is black and his wire coat is coming in now.
Words cannot even come close to describing Buttons! He is a wire coated Bramble. Coat color is black with silver wire hairs coming through now. Going to be very unusual. For a pet, I have reduced him down to only $300 - mainly because I don't have room for another male. He is 15 weeks and is going to be a large cat.
Rodney is in the picture section under "available retired adults". Buttons is in the picture section under "available kittens".
I will get a picture of one I thought was going to be a straight coat Bramble up soon (edit - up now). He is friendly, playful and full of himself - solid black. Also, will be a large cat.
So, email me if you are interested. I am looking for great homes, not the money - as always.
My sister is trying very hard to find homes for 2 adorable little puppies - littermates named Dollie and Dixie. Folks, when I say adorable, I mean, ADORABLE! They are a mixed breed, but appear to have some Yorkie and, possibly, another long haired small breed. They are small and will be small dogs - the type to put a bow in the hair and carry around in your purse. ;-) They have both been spoiled and so you need to cater to their every demand. I have a picture, but there was really no place on my Website to put it, so I put it in the miscellaneous section. Go to "Pictures" on the menu above, then to "Miscellaneous". You can find the picture there. Just contact me, if you are interested, and I will put you in touch with Debbie and Marty (my sister and brother-in-law).
Well, my cattery reduction was a success. I am down to the cats that I really want for my breeding program. I still have 2 adults (India and Rodney) that are available and, in kittens, I have the absolutely adorable unique Buttons. You can see all of these in the picture section of this Website. Just go to "Pictures" and, then, either "Retired Adults" or "Available Kittens". I did have one unexpected surprise, though. I have a rescue kitten. He is solid black and as cute as can be. I will post pictures at some point this week, but if you are interested, just let me know. He is about 7 weeks old. Showed up on my doorstep in a big box. I guess everyone in town knows that I am a cat lover and thought I could place him. He is completely healthy, so he is getting to hang out with Buttons now. They are turning into big time buddies.
Both retired adults are available for just the spay/neuter charge. I don't need the money, I just want them to have a super home that will spoil them. Rodney is laid back and has never sprayed. He is the type that will lay in your lap upside down with his feet in the air. India is the type that wants to be where you are at all times. She has a strange brush type coat that is just undercoat, but MAN what a type! Very Oriental looking and striking.
Buttons is turning out to be a head turner. I don't know if there is a coat like his anywhere. He has a thick wire black coat with silver wire hairs coming up that will eventually cover the black. So he will have an almost frostred look as an adult. He, also, has those tufts of hair forming in silver under his ears - just adds to the wild look. WoW! He is reduced in price greatly due to me wanting to keep the cattery at a certain size (especially the males).
So, come on in and look around. The ones I have left for placement are beautiful cats - and that includes my little drop off visitor (also, free if spayed or neutered) like my retirees.
